“Sikhay" is a Filipino word that means "hard work." It represents tenacity and tireless effort in the face of life's challenges. Filipinos are well-known for their hard work. They demonstrate excellence in every field and facet of life in order to reach their goals. When it comes to academic literature, every Filipino is up to speed. They produce various civilizations and arts with limited resources and equipment.

Their attempts to preserve the existence of diverse forms of literature in the Philippines, whether written or spoken, outweigh their skills and abilities. SIKHAY: Tagisan sa Panitikang Akademiko, a prestigious event held at the University of Batangas on September 28, 2024, promoted Balagtasan art and Filipino culture through an intellectual competition among students. Among the participants was Kah Chen Lee, who proudly and passionately advocated his university during the traditional Filipino poetic discussion known as "Balagtasan."

In this tournament, students from several colleges come together to demonstrate their oratory skills, wit, and mastery of the Filipino language. All competitors wore native attire to represent nationalism and appreciation for their culture as they demonstrated their abilities in front of their peers, professors, and distinguished judges. The entire event focused on the essence of Balagtasan: the exhibition of Filipino values, language fluency, and literary skill.

SIKHAY, organized by Batangas State University in partnership with other institutions, would inspire students to continue loving and disseminating Filipino language and literature, reminding everyone of the long-lasting impact of Philippine cultural traditions in academia.
